Unique challenges, unique payoffs...

Yesterday was by far the most intense day that I've had at Horse Inspired so far. We had a day full of very different clients who all brought very unique challenges. The whole thing was at the same time educational, exhausting, invigorating, and overwhelming and it has led me to really recognize one of the huge advantages to using the EAGALA model. At the end of a session, there is someone there to talk it through with (or in my case, two someones.) Instead of saving it up for the weekly supervision meeting, gritting your teeth, and going on to the next client as you might have to do in a traditional office placement, you have a teammate who just witnessed the same experience from a different viewpoint. It makes those intense days a lot easier to get through.

How time flies...

This week I will have been at Horse Inspired for a month and I can honestly say that the time has rushed by. For me it's a long drive there and back, but that gives me time to think about the clients that we are going to see that day, and reflect on what happened with them on the way back. The things that come up with the horses in sessions have a way of sticking with you because it is such an experiential modality. And that's coming from me just as an observer, not as the client! If I were to choose one word to describe Equine Assisted Psychotherapy at this point it would be: Powerful.
